What is the perfect mix of text and images on a webpage that is appealing to a visitor of the site? I've aleways wondered. It is such a fine line, I often get annoyed by mages loading etc and sometimes you encounter endless pages of text.
Hello,
You need to have proper combination. Don't use too much of anything.

Hi,
also do not use images that are hard on the eyes many users hate them!

A best webpage stands out only when images and contents (Text) are properly placed in correct locations. It also depends upon which type of website you are buiding.
There are also many website were more of images speek than some text on a webpage....
Hi there, it also depends on the type of website you have. For example, a site devoted to artists will be more image based than a site devoted to budding authors.
If you have an existing site you could simply ask your members/visitors what they would like to see.
Generally, you would have to test and see responses.
Hope this helps.

Hi Ninikins,
Here's a free online tool that I like to use once in awhile:
http://www.silktide.com/tools/sitescore
If you do not have enough images, it suggests that you add a couple to make the viewing experience more fun for your visitor. It has all kinds of other tests, too, such as marketability and the like.
When you're putting in images, make sure you keep them small enough for the dial up users out there. As a rule of thumb, I try to keep mine less than 10,000 bytes. I live in a rural area and there are people on a 6-month waiting list to get DSL, so they are still stuck with dialup. It is a very frustrating expeience when they visit sites with large image files because it takes forever to load.
I agree with everyone else's posts, too!
Good luck to you!
Chris
If you track your visitors (e.g. using
http://www.crazyegg.com which is my favourite) you can easily find out what is best
If your visitors click / buy what you want them to... Well, then... OK, there are also things such as customer loyalty etc. repeat visitors etc. (perhaps Google Analytics can be used for that)
