It is advisable to submit the website in web directories than submitting in search engines through their "add url" forms, waiting to get indexed by them.

The advantage of directory submissions is that the website will be indexed by major search engines quickly as they are crawled frequently by search engine crawlers.

What are the opinions of this information of other members of this forum?

Submission to search engines seems almost worthless to me. Quality directories will give you decent and permanent backlinks.

Albeit, I do not believe it will actually "hurt" to use the search engine "add url" forms.

Another kind of "submit" is http://www.sitemaps.org (The Google / Yahoo / MSN/SE website about xml sitemaps)
